How does one find a job on Craigslist? For many who don’t know, Craigslist is a fantastic source of job listings in a specific demographic or city. Jobs are listed by location and category and one can also post their resume to their local Craigslist site for extra exposure for your job search.
The easiest way to find jobs on Craigslist is to go to the city or state site where you are interested in looking for jobs. You will see a directory of sites on the right side of the original Craigslist page or you can go directly to the list of Craigslist – Cities. Not all cities have a dedicated site for job listing or posting, so if you don’t see your city you can simply use the state or province site. (more…)

North Vancouver RCMP are warning the public about two more Craigslist scams, after one local landlord was recently bilked out of almost $6,000.
Both scams involve the fraudsters getting unwitting victims to send them money over a wire transfer service.
In one case, a local landlord was contacted by a man posing as an overseas doctor who was moving to Canada and needed an apartment to rent. The fictitious doctor wired a check through Western Union to rent the suite for a year, said Cpl. Peter DeVries, spokesman for the local detachment. Once the check cleared the landlord’s bank, which typically takes anywhere from three to seven business days, the doctor claimed a family emergency, and said he needed to back out of the deal. He requested the landlord send most of the money back, which the landlord did.
A short time later, however, his bank told the landlord that the cheque was fraudulent, said DeVries. Confirmation of that can take the bank up to 21 days. Since the landlord had deposited the fraudulent check, he was left responsible for repayment of the loss. (more…)

We all need to be wary pretty much of anything on line these days. It is simple common sense to check, double check and triple check any opportunity or ‘too good to be true’ offer we see. Below you will find the Top 20 tips that a job offer or post on Craigslist could be a scam.
- It has a generic, over-used or vague job title. Admin Assistant or Customer Service Rep are popular ones.
- The jobs that indicate that “Telecommuting is Ok”. This attracts many people and gives them more responses.
- They fail to list a specific location for the job – i.e. they list no location under the city or area that you are searching.
- They list a salary or hourly wage that seems too good to be true or too specific like $13.64 – 34.23 / hour.
